Cleaning with Pets

At the start of the pandemic, amidst all the toilet paper shortage, lockdowns and zoom calls, many of us faced the 2020 puppy boom. At Absolute Domestics we absolutely adore dogs! We happen to have our own furry workmate, Chubby, who puts a smile on everyone’s face. Pets can be pretty messy and sometimes regaining your clean home can be quite the challenge. If there’s anything Absolute Domestics understands, it’s the importance of a clean and tidy home. We’ve made an absolute pet-approved list of tips to help keep the fur at bay.

Grooming

One of the main things we often hear pet parents fret over is the tumbleweed of fur that rolls across their floor, baseboards and even upholstered furniture. Having your furry friend regularly groomed can significantly decrease the shedding. You don’t need to worry about going to a professional groomer either, brushing your pet a couple of times a week does the trick just as well. We also recommend giving your pet a regular bath, it’s the best way to minimise that “dog smell.” Remember, a clean dog and a clean home go hand in hand!

Regular Exercise

A bored pet is a destructive pet, so don’t skip those afternoon walks. We also suggest getting your pet enriching toys, now most of us aren’t stuck inside our homes, keep them busy when your away. Getting them focused on constructive fun distracts them from potentially tearing pillows or shredding your mail.

Clean Paws

Pets are experts at slinging mud all over themselves and their home. After taking your pet out for a walk, try to keep a towel near the door to give your pet’s paws a wipe down.

Placemats

Pet’s are pretty messy eaters, to reduce food and water splatter, try using a placemat that can be easily cleaned underneath your pet’s dish. Think about using stainless steel or nonporous silicone dishes for your pet’s food. Materials like plastic can potentially harbour bacteria that could harm your pet.
